Diary of a Medicated Man #1

Wednesday 13th March

  • 6:30am – Wake Up (Feeling a bit groggy)
  • 6:45am – Breakfast and get my suit on.
  • 7:20am – 105km Drive to a Job Interview
    • Was excited about this. Had to do a written test and a typing test. The written test involved looking at a current case and writing a report to a manager on whether to grant of decline the case. Pretty full on to be honest, never done anything like that before. The typing test was just like the name says, a test on how well I type. I got 83 words per minute with no mistakes so hopefully that was sufficient. All this finished around 11am.
  • 11:00am – Head back home as I have to collect my kids from school at 2:40pm.
  • 12:30pm – Arrived at home. Got out of my suit and into some comfortable clothes. Take two paracetamol for a pounding headache. I have started getting headaches more frequent, which is probably due to the lithium.
  • 1:20pm – Had lunch. Bacon butties all the way, was so yum.
  • 2:00pm – Head off to pick up kids, they are at a school on the other side of the city.
  • 2:05pm – Disaster as there has been a serious crash on the bridge I use to get to the other side of the city. I am stuck in traffic for half an hour. Turns out a motorcyclist crashed at high speed into the metal grating on the bridge, he is in serious condition. I go past the scene and chat to the paramedics (my friends) about it. His chances of survival are slim.
  • 2:40pm – I arrive at my daughters primary school right on the bell. We then head off to pick up my son from intermediate school, its only 5 minutes away.
  • 3:00pm – Both kids picked up we head home.
  • 3:30pm – We arrive home and I whip up some afternoon tea for kids.
  • 4:30pm – Two more paracetamol for this headache.
  • 5:30pm – I make Soft Shell Tacos for dinner.
  • 6:00pm – I take my lithium medication.
  • 7:30pm – Both kids go to bed.
  • 8:30pm – I head to bed and watch Netflix (Doomsday Preppers).
  • 9:00pm – I take my Olanzapine.
  • 10:00pm – Probably Asleep.

Bit of an eventful day. Tonight I have to double my dose of Olanzapine, will be interesting to see how this goes. My mania is finally starting to subside I think so thats good.

  1. Lithium is my preferred mood stabilizer. I just use my olanzapine as a sleeping aide when I need it although it was initially prescribed as a mood stabilizer. Currently not taking either as partner and I are off contraception and neither are good for babies. Bit of a free fall but managing okay with decent sleep, good diet, more planned relaxation to keep the stress low as possible. Hopefully it lasts!
