Constant Blood Tests on Lithium

This is the one part of taking lithium that is a literal pain. For the past two months I have had to get blood tests done every week. The way they are going I will have no blood left to test.

I also checked my blood pressure last night and it was sitting around 150/90 which isn’t too good. Will let my pdoc know about it this afternoon when I see her.

  1. One of the reasons I am opposed to taking lithium. I already get my blood drawn every three months from my GP, and every 3 months from my oncologist. I don’t want it taken for my pdoc too. I’ve got one “go-to” vein and it will get hard if I keep using it so often. It happened when I was in the hospital for my gallbladder. They drew blood every 30 minutes, the same vein. It accumulated scar tissue. Anyway… I was on depakote and had to go through that crap. I don’t want to do it anymore. So fingers crossed I don’t end up on lithium.
